Heart Cake and Roses

Valentine's Day is all about love and this dessert exudes so much of it!  Last year, I made a similar cake with roses that were fun and trendy.  This time around I wanted a little cake that showed beauty.

Not only is it heart shaped,

it has the more beautiful hand-crafted roses.

Unlike real roses, these rose can be kept for much longer and still maintain their beauty.

This mini cake is hand cut then covered in fondant to give a smooth appearance.  Inside is a wonderfully moist vanilla cake with a slightly sweet, but not over sweet, raspberry filling.  Of course, freshly whipped cream cheese frosting coats the entire cake before the layer of fondant is smoothed over this delicate cake.
